On the Third Secret of FatimaOn May 13, 2000, the momentous announcement was made at Fatima that the Third Fatima Secret would finally be revealed. On June 26 the Vatican officially released the text of the Secret, complete with the purported facsimile of Sister Lucia’s writing of the same in 1944, and a commentary by Cardinal Ratzinger. As the official publication of the Congregation of Mary Immaculate Queen and of its Fatima apostolate, The Reign of Mary makes the following observations: 1. It is difficult, first of all, to trust the modernist hierarchy of Vatican II to correctly teach on matters regarding the Catholic Faith. After all, this same hierarchy has officially taught the heresy of false ecumenism at Vatican II, promulgated a “Mass” that does not validly confect the Holy Eucharist and is harmful to the Faith, and instituted evil liturgical and canonical practices. Moreover, when one considers the likelihood of top cardinals in the Vatican being Freemasons and the allegations of Satanism being practiced in the Vatican (affirmed by Malachi Martin, with references in Windswept House, and by Novus Ordo Archbishop Emmanuel Milingo — see The Reign of Mary issue #90), one can scarcely have confidence in revelations made by the Vatican. 2. The Third Secret was to have been revealed in 1960. According to Vatican sources, the year was determined by Sister Lucia, based on her intuition that the situation “would become clearer then.” In 1946, however, Sister Lucia had declared to Canon Barthas that it was necessary to wait until 1960 for the Secret’s revelation “because the Blessed Virgin wishes it so” (Bro. Michael of the Holy Trinity, The Third Secret of Fatima, Rockford: TAN Books and Publishers, 1991, p. 7). It is not logical to surmise that a 40-year delay was in accord with our Blessed Mother's wishes. This delay, therefore, is a serious problem for which there has been no adequate explanation. A valid conjecture about the suppression of the real Third Secret, based on the study of Fatima experts, is that its release in 1960 would have provided a damper on the enthusiastic modernist deconstruction that happened at Vatican Council II. Even if 1960 had been determined solely by Sister Lucia, what has “become clearer” as a result? Nothing! As astute observer Jim Larrabee points out, this version of the Secret does not hinge on any particular year, nor does it make anything “clearer” (St. Thomas E-mail list, hosted by John Lane, 6/27/00). 3. There are inconsistencies in the handwriting as compared to other monographs of Sister Lucia, not to mention grammatical problems as well, with phrases like “half in ruins and half trembling.” There are also poorly-constructed sentences and concepts, e.g. “the souls of the corpses.” Is it “the corpses he met” or “the souls he met”? Another one is “sprinkling souls with the blood of the martyrs.” Aren’t they the martyrs? So is it their own blood? Why or how sprinkle a soul with blood? Weren’t they already sprinkled by their martyrdom? Does this make any sense? And if the “corpses” are the “martyrs,” why pray for them? If they are not, who are they? 4. This Third Secret does not seem consistent with the First and Second Secrets. The vision of hell and the words Our Lady spoke are clear and straightforward. This purported Third Secret, on the other hand, is symbolical. How does this Third Secret correctly mesh with the texts of the first two? 5. According to the Vatican, the “Bishop in White” is John Paul II because of the presumed correlation between the martyrdom of the Bishop and the attempted assassination on John Paul II on May 13, 1981, in Rome. This is only a presumption, not a fact. The correlation becomes even more tenuous in light of the fact that the Bishop in white dies, while John Paul II did not die. 6. The interpretation offered by the Vatican is a “whitewash,” according to Fr. Nicholas Gruner’s Fatima web site, www.Fatima.org, as of 6/27/00. Fr. Kramer relates in the commentary that Sister Lucia wrote to John Paul II on May 12, 1982, a year after the assassination attempt, stating that the complete fulfillment of the prophecy has not yet happened. She did not refer to the assassination attempt in that letter at all. Fr. Kramer continues: “The Vatican’s interpretation has no support in either the text of the vision or Sister Lucia’s understanding of the Secret as expressed in her 1982 letter to the Pope. In short, we are looking at a whitewash of the Third Secret.” The commentary further points out that, contrary to all expectations, there is not a word from Our Lady in this purported Third Secret. Other problems abound as well. The Congregation of Mary Immaculate Queen and The Reign of Mary, therefore, necessarily suspend final judgment about this text of the Third Fatima Secret, and pray that more evident signs of its authenticity will be forthcoming. If it is a hoax, as some suspect, may that be made known as soon as possible! Though we believe that we are living in Apocalyptic times, nevertheless, we do not accept the interpretation issued by the Vatican. Back to top The Text of the Third Secret(as released on the Vatican Web Site, 7/26/00)“After the two parts which I have already explained, at the left of Our Lady and a little above, we saw an Angel with a flaming sword in his left hand; flashing, it gave out flames that looked as though they would set the world on fire, but they died out in contact with the splendor that Our Lady radiated towards him from her right hand: pointing to the earth with his right hand, the Angel cried out in a loud voice: ‘Penance, penance, penance!’ And we saw in an immense light that is God: ‘something similar to how people appear in a mirror when they pass in front of it,’ a Bishop dressed in White ‘we had the impression that it was the Holy Father.’ Other Bishops, Priests, men and women Religious going up a steep mountain, at the top of which there was a big Cross of rough-hewn trunks as of a cork-tree with the bark; before reaching there the Holy Father passed through a big city half in ruins and half trembling with halting step, afflicted with pain and sorrow, he prayed for the souls of the corpses he met on his way; having reached the top of the mountain, on his knees at the foot of the big Cross he was killed by a group of soldiers who fired bullets and arrows at him, and in the same way there died one after another the other Bishops, Priests, men and women Religious, and various lay people of different ranks and positions. Beneath the two arms of the Cross there were two Angels each with a crystal aspersorium in his hand, in which they gathered up the blood of the Martyrs and with it sprinkled the souls that were making their way to God.” Back to top
