The Leaven of the Pharisees
What is the Real Story Behind the Mistranslation of “Pro Multis”?
by Rev. Benedict Hughes, CMRI
ver the past several months a great deal has been made of the new English translation of the Conciliar liturgy, which is said to be a more accurate rendition of the Protestantized “Mass” that is the Novus Ordo Missae. Most notable among these changes is the new translation of the words of consecration, once again rendering pro multis as “for many” instead of “for all.”...

“O Death, Where is Thy Sting?”
Reflections on the Purpose of Life and the Meaning of Suffering
by Rev. Fr. Johannes Heyne
I’m standing at the grave of a friend. Still, it can be easily distinguished from the other graves by the mound of fresh dirt. The flowers and wreaths that decorate the new grave are still fresh and full of color. Despite this decoration, however, the brevity of human life — and also of my life — stands very vivid before my eyes....

Modern Psychology and the Rupture of Society
Part II: Perception and the Passions
by Sr. Marie Janae, CMRI
In so far as eternity being life with or without God, we begin our life with or without God here and now. It is like two separate rooms, one marked Hell and the other Heaven. Entry does not require dying. At any given moment we are in one room or the other. Death only closes the door....

Our Lady of Guadalupe and the Conversion of the Aztecs
Part I: The Virgin Beckons
by Rev. Fr. Brendan Hughes, CMRI
Well before daybreak... legionnaires prepared the victims... in close single file down the... great pyramid, through the city... and as far as the eye could see. The... unfortunates were from hostile provinces and… slavery. On the pyramid’s summit four slabs had been set up, one at the head of each staircase....

Why Must We Do Penance?
A Sermon Preached by Rev. Fr. Benedict Hughes, CMRI, on the 1st Sunday of Lent
Today, on the first Sunday of Lent, we have in the Epistle of St. Paul to the Corinthians a reference to the time. You can see why Holy Mother Church uses this Epistle today in which St. Paul tells the Corinthians: “Now is the acceptable time, now is the day of salvation”....

Catholic Hearth and Home
“What Think Ye Shall This Child Be?” (Duties of Parents Towards Their Children)
by Rev. Fr. Gabriel Lavery, CMRI
How often do parents wonder, as they look upon the faces of their little children: “What will become of them? Will they become saints? Will one become a priest? A nun? A good father or mother? Will they keep the faith, or will they fall away as so many have?” These questions are not new. ...

Servus Mariae
The Importance of Mental Prayer
by Rev. Fr. Dominic Radecki, CMRI
There is often a great misconception and confusion regarding the topic of mental prayer. The very mention of it conjures up thoughts of great saints spending hours in ecstasy communing with God. Thus many shy away from it, seeing it as a difficult and involved process meant only for those who have reached high perfection. Such souls neither understand what mental prayer is, nor realize how essential it is for salvation....
